STORY ABOUT HIM
He was one of the great transformers of the church. He was born in a town called Assisi, Italy in 1181 and died on October 3, 1226. He was canonized on July 16, 1228. His body is buried in the Basilica of San Francisco de Assisi in Italy. He was commissioned to guard the religious part of the holy land, the historical part of Jesus. The church celebrates its day every year on October 4th. Patron saint of animals, it is customary for people to bring their pets to church for the priest to bless them. He is also the patron saint of the environment, of merchants, and he is credited with creating births where he took care of the don burrito, the bull, San Jose, the Virgin Mary and the child Jesus, who to this day keep celebrating.

In his youth Francisco was famous for drinking and having a lot of fun, after having fought a battle between towns, Francisco was captured and imprisoned for ransom. Almost a year in prison and waiting for his father’s payment, according to legend, he began to receive visions from God. After leaving the prison, Francisco heard the voice of Christ telling him to repair the Christian church and live a life of poverty. Consequently, he abandoned his life of luxury and became a devotee of the faith. His reputation spread throughout the Christian world. Later, Francis received a vision that left him with the stigmata of Christ, marks that resemble the wounds that Jesus Christ suffered when he was crucified, making Francis the first person to receive the holy wounds.
