The Way of the Cross or Stations of the Cross is a popular devotion honoring the Passion and Death of Christ. It originated from the practice in early times of visiting the scenes of the Lord's Passion and Death in Jerusalem. Pope Clement XII (1730-1740) fixed the number of stations at fourteen to commemorate the events related in the gospels and from early tradition. This booklet contains the famous meditations of St Alphonsus Ligouri and may be used for public or private prayer.
