Saint Peregrine was born in Italy to an affluent family. He lived a comfortable life while opposing the papacy. He was given the forgiveness of St. Philip Benizi and later changed his life, joining the Servite order. He is best known for being cured of cancer after receiving a vision of Christ on the cross reaching out His hand to touch his impaired limb. He is the patron saint of cancer patients. The Jeweled Cross Saint Peregrine statue is made of pewter and depicts the saint holding a cross against his chest in quiet contemplation.
