This handcrafted Jeweled Cross depiction of Saint John the Evangelist features the saint holding wheat and a scroll. Saint John was the youngest of the twelve Apostles and author of the fourth gospel. He and his brother James were amongst a small group of Apostles who witnessed the raising Jarius' daughter, the Transfiguration and the Agony in the Garden. Saint John is represented by an eagle, the symbol of the Spirit. He is the only Apostle that did not die a martyr. Saint John is the patron saint of bookbinders, engravers, printers, publishers and writers.
