HAND PAINTED PLASTER STATUE – 13 Inches High & 6 Inches Width

Simon Peter (Bethsaida, late 1st century BC-Rome, c. 67 AD), also known as Saint Peter, was one of the most prominent disciples of Jesus of Nazareth. His birth name was Simon bar-Jona and he was a fisherman by trade on the Sea of Galilee. He became the best known and most cited apostle in the New Testament.

STORY ABOUT HIM
He was a fisherman until he left his home in Capernaum to join the disciples of Jesus of Nazareth in the first moments of his preaching; Along with him, Jesus was joined by other local fishermen, such as his own brother Andrés and the two sons of Zebedeo, Santiago and Juan, all of whom were part of the original nucleus of the twelve apostles.

The Catholic Church identifies him through apostolic succession as the first pope, based, among other arguments, on the words that Jesus addressed to him: «You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the power of death will not will prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16: 18-19).

He is ichnographically characterized with the keys that symbolize the kingdom of God, the rooster that recalls his denials, the cross that is an emblem of his martyrdom, the staff attributed to him as a shepherd, and also the fish, symbol of the promise of Jesus of Nazareth to make him “a fisher of men.”

WHEN DO WE PRAY HIM?
We go to him to reconcile all my breakups. We ask that you help us to listen to your Word and follow you as the Apostles did. I ask you for detachment from myself, contempt for the world, patience in adversity, humility in prosperity, correct intention in all my works, constancy in my resolutions, resignation to God’s will, and perseverance in God’s grace until death.

PRAYER
O Holy Apostle, you are the Rock upon which Almighty God has built His Church. Obtain for me I pray you: lively faith, firm hope, and burning love, complete detachment from myself, contempt of the world, patience in adversity, humility in prosperity, recollection in prayer, purity of heart, a right intention in all my works, diligence in fulfilling the duties of my state of life, constancy in my resolutions, resignation to the will of God and perseverance in the grace of God even unto death; that so, by means of your intercession and your glorious merits, I may be made worthy to appear before the Chief and Eternal Shepherd of Souls, Jesus Christ, Who with the Father and the Holy Spirit, lives and reigns forever. Amen.
