From a very young age she consecrated herself to God, made vows of chastity, but when she reached her youth, her mother wanted her to marry a pagan. His mother became seriously ill, she proposed that they go on pilgrimage to the tomb of Saint Areda. Upon arriving there, she was immediately healed, she managed to convince her mother not to force her to marry, but the suitor, for his refusal, went to the emperor who had a great persecution of all Christians. They burned her prisoner and gouged out her eyes. For this reason, she is the patroness of the blind, after this she was beheaded. She is venerated in the Catholic, Orthodox and Lutheran churches.
