Intinction Sets

Intinction is the name given to the practice of dipping the host in the ceremonial wine before presenting it to the communicant. Dipping the host in the wine is one of the 4 approved ways to administer the Holy Communion. In order to make administering communion by intinction easier, an intinction set is used. The set consists of a plate or bowl with a matching cup. The host is placed on the bowl while the cup is filled with the wine. A host is selected from the bowl, dipped in the wine and is then placed on the tongue of the recipient.
