Saint Charles was the Cardinal Archbishop of Milan and played an important role in the Catholic Reformation. He worked to improve the morals of clergy, established several seminaries and founded a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. During the times of plague and famine, he served the starving and ill. He is the patron saint of seminarians and secular clergy. The fine pewter Saint Charles statue by Jeweled Cross is small enough to be carried in a purse or pocket and depicts Saint Charles holding a cross.
