Albs

An alb is a particular type of liturgical vestment that is worn in Christian denominations by members of the clergy. The garment is typically white in color and often extends down to the ankles. Women's albs can be worn loose like a robe or belted at the waist. If worn belted, the device used to cinch the alb is called a cincture. The alb is fashioned after a simple white tunic that was made popular by the Romans and is widely regarded as one of the oldest types of liturgical vestments. They are typically worn over the cassock, but under other types of special garments.
