Classic Pectoral Cross shown in sterling silver with reconstituted amethyst gem cut stones on each end. Also available in 24k gold plate over sterling silver. Cross measures 3 ½" x 2 5/8" and is delicately designed with IHS in the center.
The pectoral cross gets its name because it is worn over the breast, or pectus. There are rules determining whether it is worn over or under whatever the bishop is wearing. If he's in a suit and collar, the pectoral cross is usually placed in the vest pocket with the chain showing.
